Chandrabhaga Fair Of Rajasthan
Rajasthan is truly a land of vibrant and colorful fairs and festivals. These fairs and festivals are the reflection of the rich cultural heritage of this amazing state. Chandrabhaga fair in the recent years have gained prominence among the domestic and international travelers.Chandrabhaga fair is one of the most important and popular cattle fair of Rajasthan. During this fair cattle traders from other parts of India also come here for selling their animals. This fair is celebrated in the Jhalrapatan village in the Jhalawar district in the months Kartik (Oct-Nov). It is dedicated to the Sun God. On this day people take a dip in the holy Chandrabhaga river.
Legend associated with Chandrabhaga Fair:
There is a very famous legend that is related to this fair. In the ancient times Shambhu who was the son of Lord Krishna was suffering from leprosy. When he took a holy dip in the Chandrabhaga river he was blessed by the Sun god and was cured of his illness. Since that day this fair is organized every year in the honor of Sun god. Religious Significance:
Every year thousands of devotees visit this fair to offer prayers to the Sun god. Taking a dip in the Chandrabhaga river on the full moon night of Kartik purnima is considered very pious and has a great religious significance. People believe that this river has magical powers and it can cure their ailments. Because of this Chandrabhaga has gained much importance in the recent years.
The Famous Cattle Fair:
Besides its religious importance the Chandrabhaga fair is very popular for the cattle fair that is organized every year. The farm animals like cows, buffaloes, horses, bullocks and camels are brought here from various states for selling. Traders from foreign countries also come here for purchasing these animals. An extensive bargaining takes place here between the buyers and the sellers. The animals that are brought here for trading are of very fine breed and are very healthy. To catch the attention of the buyers animals are dressed in the colorful attires. Chandrabhaga fair provides good opportunity to the traders for business purpose.

Take a relaxing break from the crowd of the fair and visit the other popular attractions of Jhalawar. Travelers here can explore the magnificent Jhalawar fort, Bhawani natyashala, Chandrabhaga temple, Gagron fort, Bhimsagar and many other places.
How To Reach:
By Rail-route: Jhalawar is very well connected by both rail and road and can be easily accessed from Kota, Bundi and Jaipur by Indian rail network. Ramganj Mandi is the nearest Railway Station (25 km).
By Road: Jhalawar is also connected by road to Kota , Bundi and Jaipur. National Highway No. 12 passes through Jhalawar. Buses are available from all major cities.
