Rajasthan Elephant Festival

Rajasthan Elephant FestivalAbout the festival
Elephant Festival is celebrated every year in Jaipur, the Pink City of Rajasthan. The festival is marked by the elephant processions in which elephants decorated and bejeweled with gold plated ornaments and the 'Mahaouts' sitting on the elephant's back on the gold and silver 'howda'. The Elephant Festival starts with a graceful procession of the elephants where the tourists can enjoy the newly started game of elephant polo.

The 'Gaj Shringar' exhibition takes place during the festival and displays the various elephant-ornaments; textiles (Jhoo) parapernalic howdahs and carriages, paintings, medicines and food related to the elephants.

The Dhaph and Gair dance mark the end of the Elephant Fair exhibiting the spirit of the festival of Holi. Besides the dance performances, there is a glittering display of fireworks which leaves you with sweet memories lingering in your mind.

The wildlife in Rajasthan is perhaps as exotic as its culture. Be it birds, mammals or reptiles, you'll see varieties you'll lose count of.
As you finish your hunt with forts, palaces and wildlife, get ready to soothe your souls at places like Pushkar, Ajmer Sharif, Dilwara etc.
