The
Desert National Park, an excellent example of the ecosystem of the Thar
Desert and its rich fauna is visited by tourists from all across the world.
For observing wildlife in the Desert National Park, the Sudashri forest post
is the most ideal place. The terrain of the park consists of sand dunes
(form less than 20 percent of the Park), craggy rocks, pavements and compact
salt lake bottoms, intermedial areas and fixed dunes.
The
Desert National Park has a vivid and spectacular bird life and offers more
than 300 species of birds that include both domestic and migratory. The
Great Indian bustard is a magnificent bird found in relatively fair numbers
here which migrates locally in different seasons. The region is a retreat
for migratory and resident birds of the desert. One can spot many eagles,
harriers, falcons, buzzards, kestrel and vultures. Short- toed eagles, tawny
eagles, spotted eagles, lagger falcons and kestrels are the commonest of
these. Sandgrouse are spotted near small ponds or lakes. |
Maharajahs of Rajasthan ruled the
land with bejewelled fists and bequeathed it a legacy of forts that are
the best speakers of time. |
Palaces or the erstwhile
residences of the Maharajahs of yore create a milieu that's inescapably
attracting. Come and experience. |
The wildlife in Rajasthan is
perhaps as exotic as its culture. Be it birds, mammals or reptiles,
you'll see varieties you'll lose count of. |
As you finish your hunt with
forts, palaces and wildlife, get ready to soothe your souls at places
like Pushkar, Ajmer Sharif, Dilwara etc. |
